Welcome to the Department of Buildings & General Services!

Who we are...
The Department of Buildings and General Services was created on July 1, 1996 by Act 148 of the 1996 Legislative Session.  This Act, combined the Department of State Buildings with the Department of General Services as part of a larger effort leading to the re-engineering of state government.

The premise upon which this combination was based was that the two departments shared virtually the same customers and that many of the functions of the two departments were similar. The intent of combining the two was to improve the delivery of services by combining  similar activities and improving coordination of service delivery.
