The most efficient way to get aid to people and communities in need is through cash donations. The State recommends the Vermont Community Foundation as the best organization to ensure your contribution has maximum impact.
Small donations of food, clothing and household items are best handled at the local level. Food shelves, community centers and other local charities have the best information about local needs. The Front Porch Forum is also an excellent way to make people aware of available items. Please understand that the resources required to process and distribute these kinds of donations often makes it difficult to accept them.
