Information on Space and Move Requests

Overview

BGS Planning and Property Management is one of nine divisions or offices within the Department of Buildings and General Services.  We oversee all leases under BGS authority, provides facility and strategic planning, move and space management, and real estate related services. Managing move and space requests form a core part of our mission and business operations serving our internal agency and department customers. 
Depending on your facility need, addressing it may fall under the one of the following processes:  

A Move Request:

A request made when your department needs items (boxes, furniture, equipment, etc.) moved by a contracted moving and hauling vendor either internally or to another building. For most Move Requests, please submit the request at least five (5) business days before your planned move date. This does not guarantee a specific day, but it does allow us plan for and coordinate moves more efficiently and economically. 

A Space Request:

A request made when your department needs one or a combination of the below: 

  • Changes in business needs resulting in needing more or less office or workspace.  
  • Need to move to a different location, either in the same building, or elsewhere.
  • Workspace changes requiring design and planning resulting in construction or fit-up, 
  • Other related changes needing engineering, IT, Security, and new furniture

NOTE: Please submit a space request ninety (90) business days in advance of the anticipated move date. That is because space requests are more complex than moves.
